COMMERCIAL ENGINE

The Toro single cylinder and Toro Commercial V-Twin engines — the same ones found on some of our industry- leading commercial zero-turn mowers — were specifically created to deliver optimal performance in our mowers to the needs of the Toro decks they power.

Priming the engine is a critical step, especially if your mower hasn't been used in a while. Push the primer bulb several times to get fuel flowing into the carburetor.

A: Absolutely–and in fact, you should! You are correct in observing that your cut quality is better when your mower operates at full throttle. Lawn equipment (including lawn mowers, lawn tractors, and even trimmers and blowers) is designed to run at full throttle to give the best performance.

Con: Unsafe to use on uneven surfaces and slopes

Zero-turn mowers can flip over when riding over uneven surfaces or slopes exceeding 10 degrees.

There may be old or bad fuel in the carburetor float bowl. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and prevent the engine from starting. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.

Sniff the air: If your mower smells like unburned fuel, but it still won't start, you might have flooded the engine by over-priming it or setting the choke too high. If that's the case, park the mower on a level surface and wait about 15-20 minutes for the fuel to settle and vapours to disperse before trying again.

First, check for a blown fuse because you can usually see a blown fuse just by looking at it. The fuse on most riding mowers is connected to the small red wire that connects to the starter solenoid post. Check the fuse and replace it if it's blown.

Find the blown fuse. You can usually spot blown fuses by locating a discolored fuse or a melted piece of metal. If your fuse box is labeled, you may be able to narrow down the fuses based on what part of your home lost power. Remove the blown fuse.
